Traveled from Cabos International Airport and Went to Cabo VIP Lounge & American Express Centurion Lounge Houston

In May 2023, I traveled with my family and boyfriend to Los Cabos, Mexico to attend a wedding. We spent a total of 6 days visiting different resorts, sightseeing, and eating Mexican food. Today, we flew from Los Cabos International Airport to DC with a layover at Houston International Airport. Read on to learn about how we drove to Cabos International Airport, visited the Cabo VIP Lounge, and American Express Centurion Lounge Houston.
Driving to the Airport
In the morning, I woke up at 7am and began driving on the toll road to the Cabos international airport which took 45 mins. When I reached the toll booth, the man asked for $6 MXD. I saw that I had only $5 MXD, so I had to pay in USD instead.

At Cabos International airport, I checked in my bag and then took the escalators to the second floor. When I reached the top, I scanned my boarding pass through the machines and proceeded through the security checkpoint. Once I passed through security, I walked quickly to the nearest bathrooms, which were on the left of a Starbucks.
Cabo VIP Lounge
As a priority pass member, I get access to certain lounges like the Cabo VIP lounge. At 8:55 AM, I waited in line for the Cabo VIP lounge (opens at 9 AM). There were already 10 people ahead of me. Once 9 AM hit, the doors opened, and I was able to go in. The Cabo VIP lounge was very nice and spacious. The lounge had a lot of tables, chairs, outlets, and TVs displaying flight times.
For breakfast, the lounge served jam print cookies, chicken burgers, bread, and minestrone soup. In the middle of the lounge was a bar, which served cocktails and coffee. There were also servers waiting tables and taking orders for drinks such as coffee, tea, and juices.
It was a great place for my family to relax and eat breakfast before the 10am flight to Houston International Airport. I left the Cabo VIP lounge at 9:30am to catch our flight. When I arrived, there were a lot of people lined up ready to board the flight. Once I heard my boarding group number, I joined the line. First, a worker reviewed my passport, then another worker scanned my boarding pass.

We landed in Houston at 2:36pm CT. Once I got off the plane, I went through the customs checkpoint to get my passport checked. Fortunately, the global entry line was short, so I only had to wait 5 minutes. Then I picked up my baggage at the baggage claim before going through a security checkpoint. The security checkpoint had a long line but it took us only 10 minutes to go through the bag screening process.
Upon exiting customs, we reached the main terminal and went to look for the lounges to eat lunch.
American Express Centurion Lounge Houston
As an American Express card holder, I get access to certain lounges like the Centurion Lounge (nearby gate D6). I was able to walk straight into the American Express Centurion Lounge Houston without waiting in line. I sat down by the buffet, which offered Caesar salad with sliced eggs, chicken, rice with chickpeas, cucumber shoot with ginger and harissa, steamed broccoli with garlic.
After a couple of minutes of eating, a server came by and asked what I wanted to order. I ordered a Fragola cocktail and my brother ordered a Pliny the Younger (gin and tonic) and Chinese New Year cocktails.
The American Express Centurion Lounge Houston was the perfect place to relax and eat lunch before my 6:50pm flight to Ronald Reagan Airport. I left the lounge at 4:15pm to meet with my family, whom were enjoying themselves at a different lounge.

I landed around 10pm and walked straight out of the airport. I didn’t have to go through customs because I had already gone through it at Houston International Airport. I waited for 10 minutes for our uber to arrive and then went home.
