Touring the Beautiful Flora Farms & Shopping at Walmart

In May 2023, I traveled with my family and boyfriend to Los Cabos, Mexico to attend a wedding. We spent a total of 6 days visiting different resorts, sightseeing, and eating Mexican food. On the 1st day, we toured the beautiful flora farms by eating lunch and going on a house and farm tour. After Flora Farms, we went to Walmart to purchase breakfast food.
Flora Farms
Flora farms is a 25-acre organic working farm that’s home to a restaurant, bar, grocery, cottages, and spa. We parked in the parking lot and spotted a worker, who directed us to Flora Farms Kitchen. We were so hungry when we arrived that we immediately ordered a variety of dishes to share. With a party of 10 people, who enjoy communal dining, we embarked on a culinary adventure. I tried an assortment of dishes from the menu: sourdough bread, pasta, pork chop, margarita pizza, and pulled pork burger! To accompany our meal, we ordered a pitcher of sangria. The food was delicious and fresh, the cocktails were fruity and refreshing, and the staff was informative and friendly.
Tour #1 – House
After lunch, we went on a house tour to view the community and a house. It was only 15 minutes long, but it was wonderful to walk around the area and gain insights into the unique features of the area. During the tour, we discovered an intriguing aspect of the community: all the vegetables grown at Flora Farms are for the residents only. There’s a separate garden near the airport that supplies the restaurant. We also learned that the houses are not available for public purchase, rather through invitation only. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take pictures of the houses, but they were beautiful.
Tour #2 – Farm
After the tour, we took pictures around the area. Then, me and my boyfriend played corn hole until it was time for the farm tour at 4:30pm. The tour guide greeted us with a welcome drink, the options were alcoholic carrot juice infused with tequila or non-alcoholic watermelon juice. Our guide began by showcasing a detailed map of the farm, outlining the various areas and crops it encompassed.
As we embarked on the tour, she led us through the farm’s diverse landscape, pointing out the kale, Hawaiian papaya trees, cabbage, and Japanese eggplants! We also saw the cactus grove, which had edible flowers growing, aka the prickly pear. She also pointed out an iguana sitting on top of the palm trees.
We saw a pond, which houses koi fish and turtles. We also saw a well, which is used as portable drinking water. The well is 17ft deep!
The tour guide ended the tour at the market, where they sell fresh produce and souvenirs. The tour lasted 30 minutes.
Walmart
Following our visit to Flora Farms, we made a stop at Walmart to stock up on groceries. Since we were staying in a villa for our time in Los Cabos, we wanted to ensure that we had ingredients for making breakfast and snacks for when we get hungry. Our shopping list included essentials such as eggs, chips, guacamole, salsa, water, cheese, and alcohol. This Walmart was very clean compared to the ones I’ve seen in America. It was also very cheap and did not give out plastic bags at checkout.
After Walmart, we drove to the villa was located at Mavila at Quivira. When we arrived, we met with the property manager who gave us an overview of the villa.
