Authentic Dinner at Los de Abajo Taqueria in Los Cabos

In May 2023, I traveled with my family and boyfriend to Los Cabos, Mexico to attend a wedding. We spent a total of 6 days visiting different resorts, sightseeing, and eating Mexican food. On the 5th day, we ate at an authentic Mexican restaurant called Los de Abajo Taqueria, which was a bit far from the tourist area. We ordered an assortment of dishes such as tacos, drinks, and more!
Parking
For dinner, I drove to a restaurant that’s located outside of the main tourist area, called Los de Abajo Taqueria. When I arrived at the restaurant, I saw all four parking spots in front of the restaurant were occupied. I told my parents to grab a table first and then we can meet them there after we find parking on the street. I found parking on the street 3 minutes later. There weren’t any parking meters, so I assumed the space was free.

When I arrived at the front entrance of the restaurant, I was surprised to see a rope across the doorway, which prevented us from going inside. I waited a minute for a waiter to let me in. I saw my parents in the back of the restaurant and made me why there. I was happy to sit in the back corner because the temperature began to decrease, and it was a bit chilly. The menu was all in Spanish, so I had to use Google translator for help to translate the items into English.
Drinks
After 5 minutes, the waitress came by and asked us what we wanted to order for drinks. I ordered Jamaica, while the rest of my family ordered guayaba (guava) and horchata. When the drinks arrived, I was surprised by its size! I ordered the grande size, but it felt more like super size!
Food
The waitress then took our food orders. For food, I ordered Asada (Grilled Beef) Papas Rellenas (stuffed potatoes) and my boyfriend ordered El de Abajo especial. While my brother ordered the Vampiro (crispy tortilla topped with melted cheese) and his girlfriend ordered Asada (Grilled Beef) and Arranchera (Mexican skirt steak) tacos.
After we ordered, they gave us a couple of vegetables from cucumbers and radish to a variety of salsas. I was pretty hungry, so I began eating the cucumbers by dipping them into the guacamole and salsas. After waiting for 10 minutes, the food arrived.
My Asasda Papas Rellenas was massive! It was a fully loaded dish with bacon slices, meat, and scallions on top of boiled potatoes. I didn’t expect the dish to be so big. My boyfriend’s dish of El de Abajo especial was massive as well! It was a mix of Pastor (Marinated Pork), top sirloin, bacon, chorizo, onions, and cheese. Me and my boyfriend were the only ones that couldn’t finish our food, so we took the leftovers home.
My brother and his girlfriend really enjoyed their tacos and vampiro. They mentioned the seasoning of the meats was spot on and the vampio’s melted cheese was dense and delicious.
Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal and would come back!
